The Boston area may be known for its classic architecture, but it's also home to plenty of design savvy, modern homeowners who love the charm of colonial style, but also want the advantage of modern conveniences, technology, and green living. Such was the case in a recent client project, for a homeowner in Newton, Massachusetts, just outside of Boston. The home itself is a stunning Victorian full of character and life. While the owner wanted to preserve the charm on the outside ... inside was an entirely different story. The request: a modern, high-tech kitchen that would serve as a functional, stylish hub for the whole family.

The home's choppy floorplan was opened up to create a seamless flow from the kitchen to the dining area.

The homeowner chose a contemporary two-tone combination of white lacquered and espresso cabinetry from Leicht.

Storage was a priority in the space, and deep, well-organized drawers placed strategically throughout the kitchen were the perfect solution.

Cutting-edge appliances from Gaggenau were build into the Leicht cabinetry for a seamless, ultramodern look.

Extra outlets were hidden in pop-up boxes built into the kitchen countertops.

A stainless steel appliance garage sits at counter height to allow for easy access to heavy kitchen tools, as well as hidden storage for extra dishware.
