Combining Metal Finishes in the Bathroom
Mixed metallics have been a big decor trend over the last couple of years. Still, many people are still under the impression that in bathrooms, all fixtures need to be the same finish. While there is certainly nothing wrong with sticking to a single metallic like polished nickel or brass, mixing and matching brings a sense of style and depth to the space that a single finish can't. If you're considering combining metal finishes in the bathroom, here are a few inspiration shots that show how to do it right. In this neutral bathroom, brass is the predominant finish, yet polished nickel still feels at home thanks to the gray tones throughout the space.
This next bathroom demonstrated one of the key principles to properly mixing metal finishes: repetition. Notice how the brass is seen on both the vanity light and the wall art.
While brushed nickel would have worked perfectly well for the vanity lights in the below bathroom, a dark, oil-rubbed bronze creates a more interesting contrast against the white shiplap wall.
If you're willing to take the risk, mixing up to three finished (here they're polished nickel, brass, and oil rubbed bronze) can be even more beautiful.
And finally, one last example of the result a design risk can produce.
