Project Spotlight: An Eclectic Home Renovation In Wellesley, Massachusetts

We love a good challenge! And this next project certainly delivered. We were hired by a family who was expecting a child AND in the process of moving to Wellesley from another state, into a home that needed some serious work. The client wanted to update the main floor plan, the kitchen, and a powder room, within a 14 week time frame and in a home they had only briefly spent time in. The original space was classic New England colonial style -- a beautiful home, but cramped and with a dated layout and finishes. Through close work with the client, lots of inspiration images, and some seriously efficient employees, we managed to deliver the client a home renovation they loved, and one that suited their growing family. Let's take a look at the "after" shots, shall we?

The couple wanted a kitchen that felt contemporary, but not cold. They enjoyed industrial touches, but also didn't want a room that felt mechanical or cliche.

Also top of the list: A large eat-in area where their growing family could enjoy casual dinners.

State of the art appliances were a must, including a professional-grade range and top-of-the-line range hood.

Open shelving was added to give the mostly-white space depth and add a casual, yet on-trend element.

A chalkboard wall allows the family to jot down reminders and weekly inspiration quotes.

Of course, in a family home, organization is crucial, and specially-designed drawers were added to house everything from spices to stock pots.

To improve function but maintain a seamless look, outlets were added to the island but concealed with special caps that match the woodwork.

No detail was spared in the space: Even the family dog got his own dining area!

The sink overlooks the family's beautiful yard, and a large window lets in beautiful natural light.

Industrial-style pendant lights above the extra large island creates task lighting for prep work, but also a visual focal point for the room.

Last but not least: the downstairs powder room, which was redesigned to create a simple, yet contemporary space that was easily accessed from the brand new heart of the home.
