Fall is one of the most beautiful times of year (if not THE most beautiful) in New England. The trees are turning, and the weather is crisp and cool, but there is still plenty of sunshine to be had. It's certainly a time of year worth celebrating both indoors and out. Get your house ready for the seasons with a few of our favorite fall decorating ideas for a New England Home.

Incorporate this seasons's top colors. Each season, Pantone releases its "it" colors--the shades that are supposed to be strutted down runways and strewn across retail stores in fashion and home. This year, the picks have a spot on feel for the season, especially the leaf-inspired trio of Spicy Mustard, Potter's Clay, and Aurora Red. Visit our sister blog, Divine Design Center, for a complete rundown on the Pantone hues and room inspiration for each shade.

Swap out textiles. If you get in the habit of re-vamping your home for the seasons, then you already know that textiles are one of the easiest and most efficient ways to do it. Replacing things like throw pillows and blankets, drapery, and area rugs with versions that are a little warmer, a little chunkier, and a little heavier will instantly give your home and autumnal feel.

Don't forget the outside. Curb appeal goes through the roof in New England during the fall, and whether you're selling your home or staying put, capitalizing on it is one of the best ways to celebrate the season. From picking pumpkins, to setting up scarecrows, to simply hanging a seasonal flag outside the front door, there are plenty of ways to welcome autumn with your landscaping and exterior space. If you're feeling especially ambitious, try painting your front door a deep shade of red. Not only will it be fall-like now, it will feel quaint and appropriate all year round in New England states.
