A Bright and Airy Family Kitchen Renovation
This recently redone family kitchen in Foxborough, Massachuetts is the stuff home renovation dreams are made of. It's large, bright, airy, and top-of-the-line, and has storage to spare. It's also drastically more efficient (not to mention more pleasant to look at) than the old, original space. If you're looking for inspiration for a family-friendly kitchen renovation of your own, come with us on a quick house tour.
First, a wide shot of the room. Our goal for the design was to create a kitchen that was bright and open, which was achieved through the use of white cabinetry, marble countertops, and a white tile backsplash. The homeowner also wanted a space with traditional roots, but that had the occasional contemporary flourish (like industrial light fixtures and cup pulls, and an of-the-moment graphite paint on the island) to make it feel modern at the same time.
As for the layout, the design of the kitchen centers around a large island which serves as a prep space, breakfast bar, and spot for extra drawer storage.
The family's kitchen was large, but it still needed to be smartly designed in order to house the cookware, dinnerware, and grocery hauls it takes to keep the household running.
Deep drawers throughout the kitchen allow for pots, pans, tupperware, and cleaning supplies to be efficiently stored and easily accessed.
The family was also ready to invest in top-of-the-line appliances, like a professional-grade double Wolf range, and a custom-paneled refrigerator.
As easy-to-access pantry was also a must-have in the space. We fulfilled the need with a built-in, cabinet-style pantry that has pull-out shelves that allow even the items way at the back of the closet to be reached.
Finally, the adjacent wine refrigerator makes it a cinch for the adults to host company, too -- because what's the point of having such a beautiful kitchen without opening it up to family, friends, and neighbors?
