Locally Souced: New England Furniture and Decor Designers we Love

New England is known for many things: charming small towns, stunning coastal scenery, top-notch lobster rolls and a few excellent professional sports teams. But one of our favorite things about living in the region isn't necessarily something that's readily associated with it: New England is a hotbed for design talent. Many of our favorite furniture and decor designers, both widely distributed and niche, are located right in our own backyard. Whether you're in search of beautiful, high quality classics, or a one-of-a-kind piece that will become the focal point of your room, start with these eight local New England furniture makers. You won't be disappointed.

Dunes & Duchess. Started by interiors stylist and magazine editor Stacy Kunstel and her partner, renowned photographer Michael Partenio, Dunes & Duchess is a line of beautiful, wood turned lighting and accent furniture. The line has a decidedly preppy aesthetic, especially the pieces that come coated in candy-colored lacquer.

Jill Rosenwald. The Boston-based designer's ceramic pottery has grown from having a cult-following in the early 2000's to becoming a full-on sensation over the last few years. Jill and her design team first develop the jaunty prints and bold patterns that adorn her collections, then apply them to everything from mugs and plates, to decorative bowls and vases. Rosenwald has partnered with names like Erin Gates and Grey Malin to create custom lines, and she's also branched into bedding, bath accessories, and rugs.

Thos. Moser. The well-known, classic wooden furniture maker was started by former Maine college professor Thomas Moser in 1972. Propelled by  timeless styles, many of which are inspired by Shaker or Colonial forms, and high-quality products, the operation has grown to nearly 70 craftspeople and six stores around the country, from Boston to San Francisco.

 Angela Adams. Adams is also based in Maine, but her collections of rugs and furniture have garnered her recognition far beyond that. Her unique, modern designs are sold at stores like Design Within Reach, and she's been featured everywhere from the New York Times to Martha Stewart Living.

Debra Folz. The furniture and housewares designed by the RISD grad might better de described as "functional art." Her aesthetic is anything but traditional, and she infuses each piece she designs with original perspective. A few of our favorite pieces?
