Shadow-y Rooms Inspired by Benjamin Moore's 2017 Color of the Year

Last year, Benjamin Moore's Color of the Year couldn't get any simpler. In fact, the color was even called "Simply White," and was a pure, crisp, shade the color of the snow. While we'll always be fans of white paint and what it can do to brighten up a room, we were excited to see that this year, the color authorities at BM went in a slightly bolder direction. The new hot hue is Shadow, a deep, saturated shade of purple that feels totally unexpected since it's not a color that's used very often in decorating ... let alone as a wall color.

We wanted to get a better idea of how this daring choice would actually look in a room, so we rounded up some images from Houzz. Take a look and let us know what you think about Shadow!

How beautiful is the eggplant-colored, suedelike wallcovering in this contemporary bedroom?

Most of the photos we found were of bedroom designs, but we can see why: deep purple feels enveloping and restful, whether used floor-to-ceiling, or simply on an accent wall like in this sleek space.

While we love the cool, deep purple hues like Shadow, we were also taken by slightly warmer, amethyst colored rooms, like glamorous, floor-and-ceiling purple bedroom.

Or this equally plush version that carried deep purple tones across the rug and bedding.
