A Functional and Stylish Small Bathroom Design

Who wouldn't want a sprawling master bathroom with a soaking tub, separate shower stall and his-and-hers vanities? Of course, not all of us are lucky enough to have the space required to create such a masterful master bath. If your bathroom is more modest than magnificent, it's still possible to have everything you need -- it just takes smart planning. Here's a look at a perfectly functional and supremely stylish small bathroom design we recently completed in Dover, Massachusetts. The goal was to create a room that felt open and spa-like, but also that maximized every inch of space. A pale blue wall color and nickel finishes created a relaxing atmosphere. A dual-sink vanity gives each person their space without overpowering the small room.

Again, to maximize the airy feel of the room, the combination shower and tub was enclosed with a partial-glass wall which slides open and closed to allow easy access to the tub controls.

To give the small space big style (and an immediate visual focal point) we broke up the tub surround with a contemporary tile mosaic, and created a built-in shelf to neatly and conveniently store toiletries.

Finally, the closet in the bathroom was converted into a space to house a stackable washer/dryer, creating  multipurpose, high-efficiency space.

Last but not least, plenty of hooks were installed behind the door and adjacent to the shower to make it easy for the room to stay neat and organized.
