5 Beautiful Metro West Kitchen Designs

One thing we've learned in our years designing kitchens in the Boston area: While much of the architecture may have a distinctly New England feel from the outside, inside the homes, design and style are as varied as they come. Sometimes, homeowners choose to let the bones of their space dictate their design, keeping a traditional theme from facade to finished. While others, exterior and interior are polar opposites, creating a playful tension that immediately feels unique. To show just how different the vernacular of the area can be, we've put together a list of five beautiful, and very different, metro west kitchen designs from our portfolio.

A Modern Masterpiece

This Newton kitchen is a perfect example of traditional architecture and modern design colliding. This contemporary space was created in a stunning old Victorian home that the homeowners wanted to modernize. See more of this project on Houzz.

A Sleek Space in Weston

Kitchen design can also be inspired by the space beyond the four walls of the home, too. Here, a green backsplash played off of beauty of the surrounding landscaping, and the wall of windows in the home that overlooked it. See more of this project on Houzz.

Transitional-Chic in Wellesley

This next space proves that a kitchen can be classic without feeling dated. White, shaker-style cabinets were used to give the room a traditional foundation, while updated touches, like a dark-gray island, smoke-colored subway tile backsplash, and brass cabinet pulls keep it contemporary. A Study in Contrast

In this Newton showstopper, we added touches of black and gold to an all-white space to create a high-contrast look. Rough-hewn wood tones and textures were incorporated throughout the room to bring a warm, earthy element to the sleek cabinetry and high-shine countertops. See more of this project on Houzz.

An Updated Addition

This last space shows how the area's small older homes can be updated for the present. In this case, the home owner needed a bigger kitchen, so an addition was added at the back of the structure to allow for the family's space needs to be met. See more of this project on Houzz.
